MARCH 2024
“Empowering women isn’t just the right thing to do,
it’s a smart thing to do”.
Message from Academic Team
“Where there is woman there is magic.”
International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 every year. It celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also stresses on the need to accelerate gender parity.
This day was initiated in 1911 in order to give women equal rights both at home and in society which was not so prevalent in those times. When we talk of the 21st century we can see that women have made a tremendous impact on society and the economic progress of a country. Today they are successful engineers, doctors, technocrats, politicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, homemakers and so on. The list of what women have achieved is endless. Gone are the days when women had to be restricted at homes to fulfill household chores. Women have proved that nothing can stop them if they are provided with the right opportunities.
The theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ Looking at the present age we can rightly say that the need of the hour is inclusion where women are valued and empowered. When that happens, women can help to create a better world and play an instrumental role in tackling the challenges that the modern world faces like climate change, poverty, pandemics, wars and so on. IWD urges people to end violence against women, create pay parity at the workplace and when that happens the nation progresses.
As educators and parents, we can play a pivotal role in bringing about a change in the way we perceive the role of women in our lives. Let us all pledge to create a world which is free of stereotypes and discrimination and one which is equitable and truly inclusive in all ways.
